“Soldiers have always been our partners in all our humanitarian activities and operations. I am very much glad to be with the company of soldiers because they are very witty and utmost supportive, Mabuhay ang mga sundalo!”, these were the complimentary words of Ms. Mel Tiangco, veteran newscaster and president of GMA Network’s Kapuso Foundation to the soldiers of the Phillippine Army during the latter’s participation in the bloodletting activity at Ever Gotesco Mall, Commonwealth, Quezon City on 17 February 2009.
The bloodletting activity dubbed “Sagip Dugtong Buhay” is a project of the Kapuso Foundation in collaboration with the Philippine National Red Cross and Ever Gotesco- Go Tong Foundation. It has received enormous response as many participants from the different units of the AFP to include personnel of the Civil Military Operations Battalion voluntarily donated blood.
This participation of the unit has once again demonstrated the incessant partaking of it’s soldiers in humanitarian activities. The unit’s active involvement has further conveyed that CMO Battalion actively supports the endeavors of not only government agencies but also Non-government organizations.
Ms. Rosa Rosal, Chairperson of the Philippine National Red Cross also extended her gratitude to the overwhelming participation of the soldiers in the activity. She added that the support of the soldiers are always seen in all their PNRC activities.
The CMO Bn will continue to support the upcoming activities of the Kapuso Foundation and PNRC. These is one of the thrust being sustained by the unit as it believes that the relentless collaboration of various institutions is very significant for an accomplished humane cause.
