TURN-OVER OF PROJECT, MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSION, FEEDING AND FREE HAIRCUT SUCCESFULLY CONDUCTED IN UPPER NAWASA, COMMONWEALTH, QC

          With the joint of efforts of the community, Barangay Council and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, a Medical and Dental Mission, Feeding and Free Haircut alongside with the Turn-over and Acceptance of the funded and constructed basketball court of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were successfully conducted in Upper NAWASA, Commonwealth, Quezon City on February 28,2009.


           As early as 7:00 in the morning, constituents of Purok 3, Unit 7, Commonwealth, QC flocked to avail free dental and medical mission launched at the constructed basketball court. The medical and dental team headed by Major Aniceto S Operaña of the 130st DD,HHSG, PA, Cpt Mateo Modina from Fort Bonifacio Station Hospital,PA, Cpt William Joseph B Rigor and Cpt Danilo Catangay from General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital led the conduct of free medical check-up and dental extraction services. A total of 694 constituents to include those who availed free medicines benefited in the program.

 

          A Turn-over and Acceptance Ceremony of Community Development project followed with Hon. Herbert Bautista, Vice Mayor of Quezon City as the guest of honor and speaker. The ceremony highlighted the formal turn-over of the constructed basketball court project of the AFP particularly the 356th AEG,PAF and CMO Bn, PA to the Barangay. Navy Captain Crispin P Mercado, Chief of Staff of the AFP National Development Support Command, Colonel Buenaventura C Pascual, Commander of CMO Bn, PA and Major Alexander Oliveros PAF of the 355th AEW, PAF led the turn-over ceremony.     

           Barangay Captain Jose Gaviola gladly accepted the concluded project. He further conveyed in his message his gratefulness and recognition for the enormous efforts and contribution of the AFP that has once again paved way in the realization of a Basketball court. Ms. Evelyn Abagao, the Purok leader and lot donor of the constructed court also revealed her gratitude for the completion of the project that greatly benefited the youth  specifically in Purok 3, Unit 7 of the  barangay.


          Supplemental feeding and “Sundalo ang Barbero ko” program sponsored by CMO Bn, PA were also carried out after the turn-over ceremony. A total of 217 indigent children were served free nutritious meal while 188 constituents availed of free haircut. A basketball friendship game between the youth of the abovementioned Purok and soldiers of 356th AEG, PAF concluded the day’s series of activities.


          Once again, the successful conduct of these activities has brought a remarkable gauge that the cooperation and converged efforts of the barangay, the AFP and Local Government Units will definitely bring forth optimum result in reaching out to our less fortunate constituents paving way to the community’s incessant development.
