COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT INAUGURATED IN PAYATAS, QUEZON CITY

      Another community development project was successfully inaugurated at Sitio Lupang Pangako, Payatas, Quezon City on 29 January 2009. The inaugurated project is the construction of a Multi-purpose Hall for the Maralitang Kababaihan ng Payatas (MAKAPA), a women’s cooperative organization in the said barangay.  The CMO Bn, PA headed by COL BUENAVENTURA C PASCUAL (MNSA) INF PA together with LTC VICTORIANO G PIMENTEL PN (M), Commander of CMOG, Philippine Marine Corps and MAJ ANDRES S SUNIO JR PAF, Commander of the 356th AEG, PAF jointly facilitated the conduct of the program.


       The inauguration was fully participated by the officers and members of the MAKAPA women’s organization headed by their president, Mrs. Beth Hizon. Representatives from the office of Congresswoman Annie Rose Susano, members of the Rotary Club of Pasay Southeast, and media personnel from NBN also attended the ceremony.

      The inauguration was even more highlighted by the supportive participation of Dr. Joy Lara and Mrs. Coratec  Lara-Jimenez, owners of the parcel of land where the Multi-purpose Hall will be constructed. Both further relayed their whole hearted support to the MAKAPA organization and even vowed to assist the group in strengthening their livelihood production and capabilities through sponsored provision of trainings/seminars. The officers and members of MAKAPA in turn conveyed their gratitude and appreciation to the benevolent assistance of the lot owners as well as to the engaging efforts of the AFP to realize the construction of the requested multipurpose hall.


      The said community development project is one of the programs of the AFP though the funding of the National Development Support Command implemented  and given to selected Barangays and organizations in Metro Manila. The Maralitang Kababaihan ng Payatas (MAKAPA) Cooperative is one of the chosen benificiary of the said program. These is to support their livelihood endeavors as well as to provide a conducive place to make and display their end products. The construction of the project is expected to conclude on 14 February 2009.
The activity was another exemplar of the convergence and cooperation of the AFP, other government and non-government organizations, barangay council and local people’s organizations to realize and attain organizational and community development.
