Infiltration of the Youth Sector
By Spine
The Youth and Student (YS) sector is an integral part of any society. From this sector, future leaders and decision makers are drawn, who then determine the future direction of the nation. At present, the Youth and Student sector in our country is continuously being infiltrated by the CPP/NPA/NDF and have been influenced to join the revolutionary struggle. This is an indication that the CPP is mobilizing towards a greater objective of gathering more followers and organizing more groups in view of their ultimate mission of toppling the government and seizing political power.
The coverage of the youth and student sector are those between the ages of 13 to 35 years old, this includes students, out-of-school youths, young workers, young peasants, young teachers, young professionals, and all other young men and women of which, in the real world, compose the majority of the population.
In the student/youth sector, the Kabataang Makabayan (KM) serves as the National Democratic Underground Mass Organization (NDUGMO) which is under the supervision of the National Youth and Students Bureau of the CPP. It was established in November 30, 1964 organized under the leadership of Jose Maria Sison with 60 youth members, as a comprehensive mass organization of the youth under the framework of the national democratic revolution. Included in its membership are the students and the out-of school youths (the young laborers, farmers, urban poor and professionals). It serves as the main link between the CPP/NPA and the student/youth organizations.
Under the program of KM, the organization implements and stands as the partner of the proletariat in the revolution which the KM keeps as it enlightens, organizes, and mobilizes the youth. It became the training ground for the activists of the national democratic movement in molding them into full-pledged proletariat revolutionaries. Accordingly, members go to barrios and factories to mingle and learn from the masses to do social investigation and mass work.
An example of the recruitment of its members is conducted through school campus posters indicating therein the invitation to young students to become a part and play an active role in the community by being a member of said organization.
Once potential members are organized, the CPP would give them orientation seminars on “Saligang Kurso ng Masa” under the pretext of an ordinary “outing.” They tend to contaminate the minds of the youth and students by sponsoring propaganda works under the guise debates, cultural presentations, class discussions or forums and distribution of propaganda materials.
The CPP shall then invite the youth and students to engage in mass protest actions beginning with legitimate issues and pressing its concern for the sector. Later however, boycotting of classes and demonstrations/rallies advocating on matters other than academic freedom becomes part of agenda.
The CPP intends to take advantage of the unpolluted, idealistic nature, and positive attitude that the youth possesses and use such mind-set to supplement their political struggle. Among their tasks is to unite the whole studentry to conduct seminars, trainings, workshop, discussion groups and other informative educational activities. Link the student movement for national independence and instill the basic issues affecting the people such as human rights and economic poverty.
This infiltration of the youth by the CPP/NPA poisons the mind of every student which lead them to go to the countryside and embrace the ideology of this organization. It is sad to note that among these students who were blind of the real motives of CPP/NPA are minors who became members of the organizations that clearly manifests of a violation on the Geneva Convention Law.
At present, there are various youth organizations supported and managed by the CPP through the National United Front Commission.
